Lip blush can feel slightly uncomfortable, but for most clients, it is completely manageable. Minh uses topical numbing throughout the treatment and works with a gentle technique to help keep you as comfortable as possible.
Certain factors can make the lips more sensitive during your appointment. Caffeine, some medications that increase bleeding, and areas of scar tissue from previous cold sores, sun damage, or trauma may cause increased sensitivity.
Before your appointment:
Avoid coffee and other caffeine beforehand, as it may increase sensitivity and bleeding.
Avoid Advil/ibuprofen and other non-essential blood-thinning medications before your appointment unless medically necessary.
Never stop a prescribed blood thinner without speaking with your doctor or prescribing healthcare provider.
If you are able to safely take Tylenol/acetaminophen, you may take your usual recommended dose approximately 30 minutes before your appointment for added comfort.
A little sensitivity is completely normal, but our goal is always to make your lip blush experience as gentle and comfortable as possible.

A tiny pen-like machine and a very small needle are used to gently deposit pigment into the lips. This slowly builds a beautifully natural lip color. Micropigmentation allows us to build the color gradually so that we have full control over the boldness of the lip color. Color and boldness are based on client preference.
-
Natural Lips or Lip Blush is a technique that produces more of a "nude lip," or "lip tint," result, however, everybody's skin takes the tattoo differently. I always start light and we can build color on touchup.
-
The retention rate of the lip tattoo depends on different factors such as the color you choose, your lifestyle, touchups, and how you care for them before and after your appointment. On average, Lip Blush fades away within 2-5 years, with most people wanting a touch up yearly.
-
The first appointment takes 3-4 hours, and the touch up takes about 1- 2 hours.
-
Some swelling and tenderness after the procedure is normal and may last a day or so. Your lips may look like you got lip filler, however, this is normal and typically subsides within the first 24 hours. Also, your lips will appear darker for the first few days. Lips have the easiest and fastest healing. It only takes about 5-7 days to heal. During this time, you will need to apply ointment as your lips will be chapped.
-
Yes! In no way does having Lip filler interfere with the process of tattooing lips or the results. Note that lip filler and lip blush appointments MUST be at least 4 weeks apart from each other.
-
Yes, only 2mm. The skin on the lips is not the same as on the face and things can look unnatural or get unpredictable when we tattoo too far outside the natural lipline.
-

Immediately After:
Your lips will feel tight, dry. and sore. Moisturize with the provided ointment as needed. There may be some swelling and minor bruising that only lasts for 1-2 days.
The colour will appear bright and bold. The next day, the color of the tattoo will darken as scabs begin to form, there may still be some swelling or minor bruising
The scab will fall off within 3-10 days depending on your skin and the procedure you had done
Drink liquids through a straw and stay away from spicy and citrusy foods for 7 days. The day of treatment:
Fluids will leak from the tattoo to form scabs. You will want to pat the area dry to ensure no fluids sit and form scabs. You may ice the skin if it is feeling tender or swollen after the procedure. Wrap an ice pack or a ziplock of ice in a napkin and place on the area for as long as desired.
Day 2-10
Do not touch your tattoo with dirty fingers, remember it is an opened and healing wound. An infection could possibly ruin the tattoo.
Don't get your tattoo too wet for too long. It will make the scabs soggy and easier to fall off prematurely. Remember, you want to keep the scabs on for as long as you can, let them fall off naturally.
Do not sleep on your face to avoid lifting your scabs prematurely and make sure youโre sleeping on a clean pillowcase to avoid infection.
Donโt pick, scratch or bite off the scabs. Let the scabs fall off naturally. Picking can cause scarring, loss of pigment, or an infection.
Do not expose your tattoo to UV rays or tanning beds for 4 weeks after the procedure. These things can alter the appearance of your tattoo dramatically.
Do not sweat on the tattoo until all the scabs have come off naturally. Sweat will take the pigment from your tattoo. If you do sweat on them, dab it off immediately.
Do not get any facials, Botox, chemical treatments and microdermabrasion for 4 weeks post appointment date.
After Scabbing Phase:
Once the scabs have completely fallen off, you may apply makeup over the area and return back to your normal routine. The complete healing process takes 4-6 weeks. At 4-6 weeks the true and final color of the tattoo will show. It is only after 4-6 weeks that a touchup to the tattoo can be done.
Please note that your tattoo will be softer and not as crisp when healed.
Note that results will vary with each individual and are extremely dependant on your skin and how you care for it during healing. It may take more than one session to achieve your desired result.
Once Fully Healed:
We recommend wearing sunscreen as the UV rays will deteriorate the pigment and lighten or fade the tattoo faster as well.
If you are having any laser or facial beauty treatments please inform your technician before procedures that you have a permanent makeup tattoo.
This treatment does fade after 1-3 years depending on your skin and lifestyle. Touch-ups are necessary to maintain the longevity and overall beauty of your tattoo. If you have oily skin, an iron deficiency, or a very strong immune system, your pigment will not last as long and will not heal as crisp as others.
Coverup works may need additional appointments to have better results as it is possible that the "coverup" tattoo may not completely cover the old one.
-
Please keep in mind whether choosing a natural colour or a bold colour, the final results always look bright and bold at first but will heal 40-50% lighter in the next 5-7 days
They also look swollen right when they are done. Swelling will go down in 2-3 days. -
Yes, however, on the first session we will have to color correct your lips to cancel out the cool tones. This means the initial color we tattoo MUST be orange! If we are to tattoo any other color you risk darkening your lips further or having absolutely no results at all.
When healed at 6 weeks, most if not all of the darkness in your lips will be covered and your lips will have an even tone. Note that results cannot be guaranteed and lightening or evening out dark lips may take a few sessions. Under no circumstances will Minh tattoo a "NUDE" color on dark or cool toned lips. If you are unsure if you have dark or cool toned lips you can send Minh a picture of your lips in natural light to confirm. Lips too dark or thick will be rejected so please be sure to email pictures if your lips are extremely dark grey or black in color. -
Touchups are recommended for everybody. On touchup sessions, we can alter the shape and color of your tattoo or go bolder or fill in spots that didn't retain pigment as well as others during healing. Touchups will also add longevity to the life of your tattoo. A Touchup can be booked no sooner than 4 weeks after your last appointment.
-
This procedure can trigger cold sores for carriers of the herpes simplex virus. To prevent cold sores from flaring up it is recommended to go to your family doctor and get Zovirax or another antiviral medication prescribed to take 5 days prior procedure, the day of, and 5 days after. Note that a cold sore outbreak can alter the healed results of the tattoo.
